Industrial gas cleaning is the cleaning of waste gases and ventilation emissions from dust, aerosols and harmful gases before release into the atmosphere. For enterprises in Kazakhstan, this is a requirement of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a question of production culture. We analyze the basic methods and how equipment is selected.

Why is gas purification necessary?

Without cleaning, dust, ash, metallurgical and chemical aerosols, and harmful gases enter the atmosphere. Gas cleaning equipment captures pollutants, reduces emissions to standards and allows some materials to be returned to production. For many industries this is a mandatory operating condition.

Basic methods of gas purification

Mechanical (dry inertial) cleaning – cyclones

Cyclones capture coarse and medium dust using centrifugal force. This is a simple and reliable solution without consumables, which is often used as the first step before fine cleaning to relieve the strain on the filter.

Filtration – bag and cartridge filters

Bag filters purify large volumes of gas with high dust content, cartridge filters are compact and provide fine cleaning to the maximum permissible concentration level. Regeneration – by pulse blowing with compressed air without stopping the system.

Electrostatic precipitators (ESP)

Electrostatic precipitators deposit particles in an electric field. They are used for large volumes of gas in metallurgy and energy, providing high efficiency with low resistance.

Wet cleaning – scrubbers

Scrubbers capture dust and at the same time neutralize harmful gases with a spray liquid. Indispensable for hot, wet, sticky and chemically aggressive flows where dry cleaning does not work.

How to choose gas cleaning equipment

Equipment is selected according to process parameters: gas flow, temperature, initial dust content and composition of pollutants, required efficiency, dust properties (abrasiveness, stickiness, explosiveness). Often a multi-stage scheme is more effective – for example, a cyclone plus a bag or cartridge filter.

Gas cleaning from ABL

ABL Engineering Group supplies and installs gas cleaning equipment:cyclones, bag and cartridge filters, electrostatic precipitators and scrubbers. The final parameters are determined by calculations for your process, and engineering sections, if necessarydesigntogether with design institutes. Send us your emissions parameters and we will select a solution and prepare a commercial proposal.
